While these are two classic cars they are just about as close to polar opposites as you can get. The only similarity they really have is the price.
This 1963 Chrysler Imperial needs "minor work" and "maintenance". Looks solid, but he put a bunch of stupid filters on it so its hard to tell. Price: $6500. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Option 2 is a 1973 Volkswagen Thing. Other than a little rust seems to be in pretty solid shape. A bunch of parts have been recently replaced. Price: $6,500. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

VW. Removable roof, easily upgraded engine, the fact that you can practically buy a roll cage from JC Whitney, fewer electrical parts than most modern washing machines, and that boxy, squared off look?
I'd be all over it.

I wouldn't even consider the Chrysler simply for the fact that the seller is on crack. 14,500 examples does not make for a rare car. Also filtered instagram images to hide the true condition? Come on man.

Without even reading about them - the Thing. It'd go good with my Beetle :)

Easy, Chrysler for me, I have no desire to ever own a VW of any kind.

Chrysler all day long. 413 and 727 is a blast.

Chrysler as well. So many fun things you could do to it.

Old Chryslers are awesome. A lot less people keeping them alive too. It's probably going to be a much bigger PITA to get and keep driving, but so much more worth it.

If I'm going to have 4 doors...it is going to be a fun 4 door car. The Thing.

Yeah, assuming it checked out in person, giant angry-faced Ameroyacht FTW.

Thing for practicality (parking, fuel)
Chrysler for cruising and beauty

The Chrysler, looks great but for driving, fun, and ease of fixing. The Thing. I love em.

I'm gonna say it: Volkswagen Things don't do it for me.
There. I said it. That being said I wish the underhood picture of the Chrysler wasn't Instagramed/edited in a way that makes it hard to see if there are any rust/rot issues...

Hands down, the Chrysler is the best choice IMO.
